I am writing to you on behalf of the Scottish Executive about our 'Homecoming Scotland' in 2009. As you may know, Homecoming Scotland is a series of events and activities creating a year long celebration of Scotland in Scotland and these celebrations should be of particular interest to those who have an affinity with Scotland - whether that be through: family links; previous visits; having lived worked or studied here; or who are members of associations with Scottish ties or interests. As part of the planning, we're undertaking research with organisations like yours to gain a better understanding of what would make 'Affinity Scots' want to come and visit us in 2009 and how best to keep them informed about what's happening. ... In the meantime, if you wish you can find out more about Homecoming Scotland at 'our Website
Kind regards

To All Scottish Clans in the United States,
An exciting project known as 'Homecoming Scotland' is underway in Scotland, which promises to be a year long celebration of Scotland and all things Scottish in 2009. Coincidently, 2009 also is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's beloved bard, Robert Burns, so it is a fitting time.
In order to make it the greatest celebration ever, the project is seeking data from all the Scottish clans around the world regarding what activities, etc. they would like to see included during this special year.
Those of us of Scottish descent have a marvelous opportunity here to share our thoughts and hopes for such a celebration. We in Clan Mackay Society USA, Inc. are happy to take part in the planning, as we hope you will be, too. Consequently, we eagerly look forward to learning the final schedule, when we Scots from all over the world can meet in our ancestors' homeland to celebrate our heritage together!
Thank you very much for participating in this exciting venture. We
hope to see you all in Scotland at the celebration in 2009!
With kind regards,
Marilyn Mackay Ballard Rabakukk
Representative of the President
