A Family Home "Glamis Castle is the family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne and has been a royal residence since 1372.  It is the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the birthplace of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret and the legendary setting of Shakespeare's play 'Macbeth'.  Though the Castle is open to visitors it remains a family home, lived in and loved by the Strathmore family."

Spooky Stuff! "The Secrets and Hauntings of Glamis Castle" Glamis Castle is featured in Shakespeare's Macbeth although the exact historical facts of this are vague. The castle in its present form dates mostly from the late 17th century, but it is thought that the site was first occupied as a royal residence in the 11th century. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother spent much of her childhood in this castle.
