The Scottish Tartans Authority -When we were formed in 1995 our stated goal was to preserve the past and promote the future of ScotlandŐs greatest cultural symbol by establishing a world centre of excellence and learning for the gathering and safeguarding of tartan artefacts and specialist tartan knowledge.  ...  In Tartan we look through the eyes of historians ancient and modern and delve into the truths, the myths and the ballyhoo of this great international icon. Our expanding archives are a valuable and unique repository for the wisdom and wit of many of those historians.  This site also has an International Tartan Index (ITI) which offers you over 3,700 tartans.

The Tartan Finder, sponsored by The House of Tartan, comrie, Perthshire, is a comprehensive image database of all the worlds tartans, is linked to fabrics and products from Scotlands leading weaving manufacturers.

The Scottish Selection has information on tartan fabrics, kilts, highland dress and accessories, bagpipes, knitwear, horn ware, Scottish and Celtic crafts, a Travel Guide for the Scottish Borders, and holiday accommodations.  Site includes:
